How to Install and Configure DWService for Remote Computer Access
DWService is a free, open-source tool that allows you to access and control computers (Windows, Mac, Linux, Raspberry Pi) remotely via a web browser. Below is a concise guide to install and configure DWService:
Create a DWService Account
- Visit dwservice.net and click “Sign up” to create an account using your email and a secure password.
- Log in to your account after registration.
Add an Agent
- In the DWService dashboard, click “Agents” > “+” (New).
- Enter a name for the agent (e.g., “HomePC”) and optionally a description. Leave the Group field empty for now.
- Click “Confirm.” Note the installation code displayed in the agent’s box (you’ll need this later).
Download and Install the DWAgent
- Go to dwservice.net/download.html and download the DWAgent for your operating system (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.).
- On the computer you want to control remotely:
- Windows: Double-click the downloaded dwagent.exe. Choose “Install” for permanent setup or “Run” for temporary access. Enter your DWService credentials and the installation code from Step 2. Follow prompts to complete installation.
- Mac: Locate DWAgent.app in Applications, double-click, and follow configuration prompts. Note: The Mac agent may have limited functionality.
- Linux: Open a terminal, navigate to the download folder, and run the script (e.g., sh dwagent_x86.sh). Select “Install,” enter the installation code, and confirm the installation path.
- The agent will run automatically in the background after installation.
Configure Remote Access
- Log in to dwservice.net from any device’s web browser using your account credentials.
- In the dashboard, under “Agents,” select the agent (e.g., “HomePC”).
- Choose an application:
- Screen: View and control the remote desktop.
- Files and Folders: Access and manage files.
- Shell: Run commands via a terminal.
- Resources: Monitor CPU, RAM, and processes.
- For direct access to a specific agent, log in with email#AgentName (e.g., [email protected]#HomePC).
Share Access (Optional)
- To share access with others, click “+” in the “Shares” section, assign a name, and select the agent.
- Choose permissions (e.g., Screen, Files) and contacts or set validity dates. Share the generated link with trusted users.
- Warn users to only share with trusted individuals to avoid scams.
